Two worlds of curiosity

When I design wildlife apparel, I want the image to start a conversation.

A shark can lead to questions about the ocean, research, and the role of predators in healthy marine ecosystems. A butterfly can lead to a closer look at flowers, pollination, and the small creatures that help gardens and meadows thrive.

That is the idea behind these three youth tees from the Youth Apparel collection. They are made for everyday wear, active play, and young explorers who are curious about the natural world.

Each shirt combines real wildlife-inspired design with practical construction. Moss Apparel also donates 10% of profits to conservation partners supporting shark, pollinator, and wildlife conservation. Donations are made on a quarterly basis.

Ocean curiosity: Great Hammerhead

The Great Hammerhead, Shark Fun, Moss Apparel, Unisex Youth Cotton T-Shirt is made for kids who are fascinated by sharks and the open ocean. The design brings a bold marine subject into an easy everyday layer for school, travel, outdoor play, and family adventures.

The shirt is soft and breathable, but it is also built for movement. The construction details are practical for children who wear their favorite tees hard and often.

Garden curiosity: Butterfly Flower

The Butterfly Flower, Moss Apparel, Youth Ultra Cotton T takes the conversation from the ocean to the garden and meadow.

Butterflies are familiar, visible, and often among the first animals children notice outdoors. A butterfly-themed shirt can turn a walk through a garden into an opportunity to look more closely at flowers, insects, and the habitats that support pollinators.

This tee has a classic unisex fit and a substantial 6 oz. cotton feel. It is designed to work as a daily favorite, whether it is worn while exploring outside or layered for a regular school day.

Why durable youth construction matters

Youth apparel has to do more than look good. It needs to keep up with movement, washing, school days, outdoor play, and the occasional hard landing.

That is why I pay attention to construction details:

  • Double-needle stitching: Reinforced stitching at key areas helps support long-term wear, including sleeve and bottom hems on the Butterfly Flower tee.
  • Taped shoulders: Taped shoulder-to-shoulder construction helps stabilize the shoulder seams and supports a better shape during active use.
  • Seamless or double-needle collars: These details create a clean neckline designed for regular wear.
  • Tear-away labels: A tear-away label helps reduce irritation at the back of the neck.
  • Cotton fabric: The Great Hammerhead and Hammerhead Shark tees use 5.3 oz. USA-grown cotton. The Butterfly Flower uses 6 oz. preshrunk jersey-knit cotton.
  • Easy care: The Butterfly Flower tee is machine washable, making it practical for a child’s regular wardrobe.

The result is straightforward: comfortable shirts with construction details that are ready for everyday use.

Conservation in the purchase

Moss Apparel donates 10% of profits to conservation partners supporting shark, pollinator, and wildlife conservation. These donations are made on a quarterly basis.

The shark tees support our partnership with the Bimini Shark Lab collection, helping connect apparel purchases with shark research and conservation. The Butterfly Flower tee supports the pollinator and nature theme associated with the Bee and Butterfly Habitat Fund partnership.

I believe conservation apparel works best when the purpose is clear. The shirt should be comfortable. The image should be engaging. The impact should be easy to understand.

These tees give children a wearable starting point for conversations about ocean life, pollinators, habitat, and responsible stewardship.

About Robert Moss

I have spent 10 years photographing wildlife, landscapes, and ocean environments. My work has taken me across North America, Central America, Southern Africa, Sri Lanka, Australia, the Caribbean, and Europe.

My specialties include North American wildlife and landscapes, the American West, mountain scenes, hawks, pronghorn, bison, deserts, coyotes, lakes, ocean scenes, sharks, fish, underwater life, and mangroves.

My photography has been seen in Greenwich Freepress, at select REI locations for apparel, and through Designspec for fine art.

My approach is based on respect for the animals and environments I photograph. I do not stress, chase, bait, corner, or touch animals, and I do not alter their behavior for a photograph. I use long lenses whenever possible to maintain distance and allow wildlife to behave naturally.

Through Moss Apparel, 10% of profits support nonprofit organizations working in wildlife conservation, habitat protection, and ocean restoration.
